My painting is an exploratory process. All the paintings start with drawings from life: figurative, landscape, still-life, and geometric. In the process of painting, other factors exert an influence: music, available light, weather, mosquitos, friends, books...all those factors of daily life.

I work in several media: watercolors I can use either on location, or early morning at home. Oils are frequently started 'Plein Aire' and are finished in the studio. Color, form, composition and style are all considerations in the process of developing the finished painting.
