Commissioned 'fur and feather' Portraits
My love of animals, fits right in with the direction my art work has taken which started by painting my dog, a beautiful ‘blue’ Weimaraner.  Then a couple of cat lovers wanted paintings of four cats that they wanted to always remember.  And that started the animal portraits including one of a favorite chicken!

Art needs to have a particular purpose for me other than I enjoy it or feel compelled to do it. I find doing pastel portraits of pets that people love, blesses them.  And that brings me much satisfaction and purpose.

I paint the portraits exclusively in the pastel medium.  For me, pastels are very good for painting fur and feathers. And although I have done larger works in the past, smaller 9 x 12 (unframed) are a good size for these portraits.

If you are interested in having a portrait done of your best animal friend or someone else's best friend, email
