ENCAUSTIC MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP
Barbara Mallon will teach a two day workshop on Friday and Saturday, August 17-18, 9:30am-3:30pm daily. Come join Barb Mallon as she returns for this fun 2-day workshop where we’ll explore the encaustic medium and how you might utilize it in your own art making. She will initiate you safely into the world of torches, hot palettes, wax, plaster and shellac. But that’s not all! You will explore texture-making, scraping, incising and filling, embedding all kinds of materials, and transfers of unusual material. Barb will bring the beeswax and paints, substrates and her stash containing transfers, foils, beads, papers, screens, texture and stencils for you to try. You will work on boards, paper, fabric, branches and paper mache masks, working 2-D and 3-D. Encaustic can be poured, spattered, dipped, placed and painted and we’ll try them all. You should wear old clothes or an apron and bring your stash stuff to personalize and embellish. Cost to Trail's End Art Association members is $150 and non-members $175, for 2 days + $50 per person for materials. The check for $50 will be collected on the 1st day of the workshop.
